OVERVIEW
Students can log in directly to the Chromebooks with their personalized Google Apps For Education credentials. Signing in directly with the personalized Google Apps For Education credentials allows students to work on their individual Google Drive documents and sheets, and also allows students integrated access to other services that use the KIPP NYC Google Apps usernames and passwords for authentication (Clever, Khan Academy, Lexia, Zearn, etc.) Most importantly, as long as students ‘sign out’ properly at the end of each session, other students will not be able to access their work since each account is personalized.
We recommend this approach for students in Grades 3-12, whereas we recommend using Clever Badges for Grades K-2.
Logging into the Student Chromebooks
- On the bottom left of the login page there is an option to “Add Person.” Hover the mouse arrow over the option and select it. (Example below)
- A new window will appear requesting an email. Enter the student’s username and click Next. (The @kippnycstudents.org or @kippnyccp.org part of the username should already be populated.) Then enter the student’s password, and click next. (See screenshots below.)
- A new window will appear. This window is the EULA (End User License Agreement). Scroll down to the bottom of the message and select “Accept”. The student will be redirected to the Clever homepage. *Students will only need to accept this message the first time that they use the individualized account to log into a Chromebook.
- The student will now be signed into the KIPP NYC Clever Portal, and he or she can navigate throughout the Apps and the links.
